It’s an enjoyable film I’d happily watch again and suggest to others. Crispin Glover truly steals the show as a deranged assassin with a gun, while Nina Dobrev and Clifton Collins Jr. provide excellent supporting performances. Luke Bracey's portrayal feels somewhat unremarkable, considering he carries the narrative as the central character. To be frank, the plot isn’t particularly compelling until about two-thirds of the way through; even then, it’s not the story itself that proves entertaining. The film largely revolves around Glover’s manic acting, but because of its over-the-top nature, it's as amusing as it is intense. There's a considerable amount of dialogue in French, requiring some subtitles to follow along, though I'm not convinced that the foreign language portions are really necessary. The depiction of family relationships is lovely and helps make the characters feel important, but ultimately didn’t resonate with me. The basic premise—a typical family facing the threat of an assassin—is enough on its own, and each new development adds to how memorable and fun the film becomes.
