The movie *Luca* adheres to established patterns for success, avoiding any real departures, yet manages to deliver an engaging narrative with characters audiences can connect with. The animation is impressive, vividly portraying the Italian coastline, and Dan Romer’s score complements it perfectly, alongside excellent voice performances; all hallmarks of a Pixar production, though presented within a somewhat straightforward story. Director Enrico Casarosa directed Jesse Andrews and Mike Jones' screenplay through familiar plot points, effectively exploring the theme of feeling different, but ultimately resolving it in a lackluster way. However, predictability doesn’t detract from a film centered on well-drawn characters forging meaningful friendships during a summer that carries considerable emotional impact, potentially prompting some viewers to become visibly moved during its final, poignant moments. While not my top choice among Pixar films, I consider it a worthwhile movie and enthusiastically suggest seeing it. Rating: B
