I wouldn’t recommend this film; it was truly unpleasant to watch, and I won’t be revisiting it. My reaction went beyond disappointment—I felt compelled to consider contacting child protective services and keeping tabs on the adult performers involved. The content these children are exposed to, what they say, and their involvement in certain situations is deeply concerning, particularly given the context of the performances. If the intention was for this to be humorous, it failed completely; it’s a distressing narrative centered around disturbing themes that don't elicit any laughter. Even Jason Biggs points out problematic behaviors exhibited by one of the characters, and these are individuals we’re meant to support. There's a clear distinction between lightheartedness and harmful depictions, and this film demonstrates how easily that boundary can be violated. Perhaps it resonates too strongly with reality, or maybe the possibility of the events portrayed actually occurring is simply frightening and prevents me from finding any humor in them. Whatever the reason, I didn’t find anything amusing about this movie; the only positive aspect was the performance by young Zachary Gordon ("Diary of a Wimpy Kid").
