The sixth movie in Hallmark’s ‘Love Comes Softly’ series—I can hardly believe how far along I am, though there's still a ways to go. Overall, I've been enjoying the experience, with its share of highs and lows. This one felt particularly good compared to the previous two, which were quite disappointing. The plot was really nice this time around, although they introduced even more new characters as the story moved forward into another timeline. I’m just briefly recalling the whole series to jog your memory—it started with Marty, then shifted to her step-daughter, Missie. From there, we have Belinda, who is Missie's step-daughter, beginning a third generation of stories. The overall feel seems to be getting slightly more modern as each film progresses, meaning it contrasts with the time period in which the story takes place. Even so, the narrative remains rooted in cowboy culture and explores various themes. > "The only thing you have to rely > on this world is yourself." This is one of the best movies in the series so far, truly embodying its title. Most importantly, for the first time, the story isn’t solely focused on family issues. There's romance too, and it's sweet and brief. The main focus is Belinda’s determination to pursue a career—something that was quite difficult for a woman in the late 1800s, even out west. Watching how everything unfolds *is* the movie itself. ‘Love Comes Softly’ frequently includes deaths, and it seems like a deliberate pattern rather than just random events. Some of these deaths have been very emotional and deeply connected to the main characters, adding significant weight to the storytelling. Others feel unnecessary—like one in this film, perhaps. Maybe it's meant as a lesson or turning point, or simply reflects that medical care wasn’t advanced enough to save people back then, or serves some purpose about appreciating life. I can accept it here because it wasn’t too bad, even though the way it happened felt a bit silly. Aside from the deaths, another recurring element is the sudden appearance of a romantic interest who quickly wins over the female lead—and in a good way! It's possible that this was just how things played out during that time period. As I mentioned earlier, the series seems to be evolving toward the 20th century. Perhaps the next movie will take place in a city; it would be exciting to see that for the first time. I had a really good time with this one and think the upcoming films have the potential to be even better. Until next time... 7/10
