It’s that time of year again, with Christmas movies everywhere you look on television. It seems unavoidable to watch a few each holiday season, and Hallmark films hold a certain place among them. This is yet another Christmas romance centered around a small town where a young girl writes Santa asking him to bring love and happiness back into her mother’s life. A writer facing his own difficulties responds as Santa, and they begin exchanging letters. However, when he chooses to meet them face-to-face, things aren't quite what he expected. Balancing his two identities and revealing the truth becomes a bit of an issue. The rest of the movie focuses on how everything wraps up. Many Christmas movies, especially those focused on romance, follow a familiar formula. It’s easy to guess where these stories are going because they almost always end happily. This one wasn't terrible, and I enjoyed the first portion quite a bit. I started to lose interest toward the very end; the pacing felt slow, which could have been improved. Still, it’s a perfectly acceptable film, especially for families looking for something to watch during the holidays. The actors were well-chosen, and the production quality was good too. For a made-for-TV movie, it's not bad at all. As my first viewing of the season, I thought it was enjoyable and I’m excited to see what other films are in store. -Love always, me! _6/10_
