I'm unsure if you would react the same way I did when receiving personal text messages from someone you don’t know—I probably would have just told them they had the wrong number! However, that isn’t what happens in this story. When "Rob" (Sam Heughan) begins getting texts that certainly spark his interest, along with those of his coworkers “Lisa” (Lydia West) and “Billy” (Russell Tovey), things take a different turn. He manages to get enough information from the messages to eventually arrange a meeting—at the opera—and is introduced to "Mira" (Priyanka Chopra Jonas). She’s still struggling with the loss of her previous boyfriend, which explains why she continues sending messages to his old phone number, now reassigned! Meanwhile, “Rob” has been assigned the task of securing an in-depth interview with Celine Dion, who is about to embark on a tour. After a somewhat awkward start at a press conference, she decides to assist our rather naive protagonist in navigating his strangely unfolding relationship. To be fair to Heughan, he doesn’t embody the typical handsome leading man here, but that provides only minimal benefit as the story moves from unbelievable to completely outlandish before ending predictably (ninety minutes later than necessary). The soundtrack does provide a reminder of just how impressive Miss Dion's voice is, but her acting abilities should probably be shelved—a suggestion that could apply to nearly everyone involved, along with the writing itself. The only scene I found worthwhile featured Nick Jonas, who is overly concerned with his health, as her date; when he realizes he won’t be having any romantic encounters, he starts looking for another person to help him burn off the calories from the drinks—while they're still in a taxi! There’s really nothing special about this film; it occupies your time pleasantly enough but is completely unremarkable and doesn’t warrant seeing in theaters.
