Those who weren't fans of The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou probably won’t enjoy Lost in Translation either. The humor feels understated, and the conversations aren’t particularly strong. At least in Life Aquatic, there were amusing costumes to look at. As someone who travels a lot, I understood the exhaustion and general melancholy that runs throughout the movie. Viewers will likely feel disoriented. While I did genuinely laugh out loud on occasion at Bill Murray's lines, it’s certainly not something typical filmgoers should consider a comedy; it's an independent art film and deserves to be viewed as such.
