I usually approach movies about time travel with caution because they are so difficult to pull off well. They almost invariably end up feeling contrived and riddled with logical inconsistencies. It feels like filmmakers who attempt serious, non-comedic stories involving time travel either lack the understanding to realize it’s going to be problematic or simply don't care if audiences notice those problems. This film serves as a prime example of that. The plot is overflowing with paradoxes and those frustrating “what if this happened now, then that couldn’t have happened then” scenarios. Some viewers might be able to ignore these issues, but I find it hard to do so. I completely agreed with something one character said: "This time travel crap, just fries your brain like an egg…". Despite the frustrating science-fiction elements, if you can manage to set those aside and try to enjoy yourself, the movie isn’t terrible. Considering its inherent flaws in terms of scientific accuracy or a plot that doesn't ignore logic (which is a given with time travel), it does make a decent effort to be entertaining. It’s not one of Bruce Willis’ usual high-octane action extravaganzas; there *is* action, but the movie also takes its time developing the story. The film has a noticeably dark and somber tone. The future depicted seems bleak, dilapidated, and controlled by criminal organizations. Adding to the complications of time travel, the story introduces another element: 10% of the population now possesses psychic abilities. Most of these powers seem useless, only capable of performing trivial tricks like making small objects float. Except for one—the future crime boss, who naturally has much more impressive psychic capabilities. And, predictably, a young character acts like a spoiled child with anger management issues, which was somewhat irritating. The ending, which I won't spoil, wasn’t particularly unexpected and left several questions unanswered. Overall, I found the movie to be enjoyable, but it isn’t going to make my list of favorites.
