I’d been anticipating this film hoping it would redeem the shortcomings of Oddity (2024), and thankfully, it did. Longlegs (2024) combines aspects of paranormal theories with the anxieties surrounding Satanic panic—that era where people believed the Devil was compelling individuals to commit acts—resulting in a well-paced thriller where, indeed, the Devil seems to be influencing events. Nicholas Cage gives a notably strong performance as Longlegs, and it's enjoyable to see Kiernan Shipka taking on another unsettling character following her work in The Blackcoat's Daughter (2017). MaXXXine (2024) is what I’ll be watching next. _I truly hope it lives up to expectations_. ♪ Let me in now and it can be nice! And for those watching, don't emulate Agent Browning; paying attention to your environment is crucial. That particular scene stands out as the most problematic in the movie. Also, it’s very subtle, but the Devil briefly appears in the background when Lee turns around after hearing the initial gunshot.
