It’s frustrating to see political reactions already forming around this film; conservatives are dismissing it due to its initial scenes and environmental themes, while those on the left find fault because a Republican character was Black, made valid arguments, and was portrayed positively. Again, we're faced with a movie people feel they shouldn't enjoy simply because of politics. Still, at least it’s something both sides agree you should dislike—maybe that counts as some kind of advancement. Beyond that, Boyz 2 Men got the biggest reaction from me, which was surprising considering this is meant to be a silly and inconsequential comedy. And it certainly is, though not the greatest example of its type, but then these are disposable movies intended for simple entertainment, and that’s what it aims to be. It's supposed to be crude and over-the-top, and it delivers on that front. If you aren’t watching this with the expectation of a mindless, vulgar comedy, I’m not sure what you were hoping for. The only real issue is that Theron and Jackson seemed like the most amusing performers alongside Seth Rogen, who appeared to be going through the motions. But apart from that, it delivers precisely what it promises.
