It's a fresh take on a classic mystery story. The film works fine if considered independently. Not every movie dealing with past events has to be completely true to the record. Artistic freedom means historical details can be altered or even disregarded. Similar to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, were important aspects of our nation's 16th president’s life omitted from official accounts? We are aware that Borden and his wife were killed, and no one was ever found guilty. If Lizzie committed the crime and wasn't caught, how could we be certain? It is impossible for anyone who didn't witness the events firsthand—whether in person or through a recording—to know every detail. This demonstrates exactly how someone might have been able to commit murder and avoid justice during the 1800s. Well done, Lizzie. Well done.
