The director who brought us 'Tucker & Dale vs Evil' made this one, so I had pretty high hopes, but it didn’t quite live up to them. It’s an okay movie, but not a particularly good one; essentially, it’s a spoof. If you know your horror movie tropes, you’ll probably pick up on most of the jokes, although those same elements feel worn out. The concept seemed promising, but I don't believe it was handled in the best possible way. It centers around a man who has married an incredibly beautiful woman, but her five-year-old son isn't cooperating with him. He then begins to uncover some disturbing truths about the boy. Eventually, he needs to set things straight by facing whatever’s going on. Netflix really opened doors for filmmakers, especially when it comes to reaching audiences and giving smaller creators a platform. It means no movie is truly a failure because they have plenty of time to recoup their investment, unlike movies that rely on a short run in theaters. That's why I always look forward to watching Netflix films—they’re accessible whenever and wherever you want. I understand some people enjoyed it as pure entertainment; something to watch and then quickly move on from. The child actor was charming, but his character was the opposite of that. The rest of the cast did a fine job. It's an acceptable film for a single viewing! 5/10
