It’s a fresh perspective on potential. I was surprised to find myself feeling motivated watching Eddie Moira (Bradley Cooper) change his life, even though the idea of achieving so much through a drug-induced boost seems like an odd source of encouragement. What struck me about the film is that many of the changes Eddie made to better himself could have been achieved without NZT, which seemed to push him beyond what’s realistically possible. Things like tidying up his living space, upgrading his wardrobe, or completing his writing project likely would have happened with a bit more self-control and some personal motivation. Although I found the concept of NZT intriguing and often considered how I'd manage the demands and difficulties that come with using it, my bigger concern became about how much more I could be doing with my time each day. The film’s exploration of what someone might accomplish with increased focus, determination, and capability prompts a reconsideration of your own possibilities. It lets you envision a greater scope for what life can hold. Ultimately, it's an enjoyable movie that provides a jolt of motivation when you feel weighed down by indifference.
