The appropriateness of the film’s name really strikes you when you consider what it’s about: four young Syrian refugees finding themselves on a quiet Scottish island while their asylum requests are being processed. They reside in an empty house and must deal with feeling unsettled alongside wanting to become part of a community, all while adjusting to the often-unpleasant weather. The main figure is Omar (played by Amir El-Masry), who used to be a talented musician but has since lost his drive to perform. It seems like he might pick up his oud again when his friend and self-proclaimed manager encourages him to play at the village hall, and after some funny chats from a telephone booth with his parents back home.
