Lightyear doesn’t quite reach the level of Pixar’s truly unforgettable movies, but it remains a fun adventure with plenty of entertainment value, uplifting themes, and stunning visuals. Director Angus MacLane sticks closely to what the studio is known for, presenting a story that largely follows familiar patterns and avoids taking significant risks. The only real misstep comes with an unnecessary and overly complicated plot development late in the film, which feels confusing for younger viewers. Otherwise, Buzz Lightyear and his crew guide audiences on a remarkably engaging and visually impressive trip through space. The actors voicing the characters are excellent, particularly Chris Evans, who seems perfectly suited to playing a commanding officer, and Peter Sohn, who is consistently funny as Sox, the robotic cat and Disney’s next big toy sensation. I definitely suggest seeing this one in cinemas! Rating: B+
