_Lightyear_, much like _Toy Story 4_, feels superfluous within the larger _Toy Story_ series, yet it still manages to be entertaining. The film’s nods to science fiction give it a feel more akin to an action movie than a standard animated feature for most of its running time. It possesses a vivid and immersive quality that's beautifully presented through animation, and contains both humorous and genuinely touching scenes characteristic of Pixar films.
