"Princess Saira," living on a world governed by her mothers’ dissatisfaction, consistently finds herself alone at the yearly celebratory ball. Things change when she begins dating someone named "Kiki," which raises their expectations considerably. However, “Saira” turns out to be too much for her girlfriend, and she's left heartbroken. Simultaneously, three straight men from another galaxy are eager to find a romantic partner. They devise a scheme to abduct "Kiki" and use her to attract "Saira" to their planet, where they intend to steal her labrys—a source of power described as alluring—and end years of enforced celibacy. Despite the recent breakup, the princess embarks on an intergalactic quest to save her friend, seemingly unprepared for the powerful adversaries she’ll face. Or perhaps not? The film includes some rather direct observations about the challenges someone faces when trying to become their own person amid pressures from family, friends, and themselves, alongside a lighthearted suggestion that we should feel sorry for heterosexual men struggling to find romance. Throughout the story, there's some genuinely amusing—though possibly crude and definitely stereotypical—humor that elicited smiles and highlighted this typically irreverent and innovative Australian production. It’s not destined to appeal to all audiences, but I found it entertaining.
