It’s best to seek out the other version of this story; this one is simply disappointing. The writing seems more concerned with rejecting faith than exploring any spiritual themes, and it doesn't even try to address questions of belief seriously. What’s worse, the characters behave in ways that don't feel believable, often seeming lost and reacting in exaggerated, artificial moments of distress. It’s not a worthwhile cinematic experience.
