It’s a step up from *‘Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,’* even if *'Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones'* doesn’t quite reach the same heights—though it holds up well enough when considered independently. The absence of Liam Neeson is noticeable, and while Ewan McGregor, Natalie Portman, Hayden Christensen, and Christopher Lee are present, they don’t exactly captivate. McGregor delivers the strongest performance among that group; Christensen's portrayal might be the least impressive, though his character has a fairly compelling narrative—or at least an interesting overall progression. The actors aren't doing with much assistance from the writing, as the dialogue feels quite simple and ordinary. The musical score didn’t stick with me particularly well, despite enjoying some of its more recognizable parts. The story is acceptable enough to follow, but I had hoped for a higher level of narrative skill in these sequels to the original films. The computer-generated imagery shows slight progress compared to the previous installment.
