The film "Last Exit to Brooklyn" confronts its numerous difficult social and sexual themes directly and without hesitation, but what truly stands out is the collection of unsympathetic characters populating this bleak portrayal of Brooklyn life; they’re so unpleasant that it nearly makes the movie impossible to endure, yet also leave a lasting impact. These individuals represent some of the most narrow-minded and negative people imaginable. Despite their disturbing nature, there's something undeniably captivating about them, and the filmmakers have skillfully presented these elements, resulting in one of the most debated, stimulating, and jarring films of the 1980s.
