It’s a genuinely pleasant Christmas movie, featuring an unexpected development and serving as a subtle prompt to think about those who are struggling during the holidays. Emilia Clarke is engaging in her portrayal of a somewhat troubled elf, even if the dialogue occasionally feels extended. Emma Thompson and Michelle Yeoh both have memorable moments, and the music from Wham/George Michael brings a hint of familiar feelings to the story. The main character, though, isn't particularly impressive; he’s attractive enough, but ultimately rather dull. Nevertheless, it seems everyone involved had an enjoyable time filming, which is evident in the final product. I wouldn’t typically suggest seeing this in theaters outside of the Christmas season, but its ability to bring a smile to your face makes it worth experiencing.
