The film proved to be passable—not particularly captivating, but also not unpleasant. Initially, I struggled to grasp its central message. Was it suggesting that achieving one's ambitions through deceit and dishonesty was acceptable, given the protagonist’s actions? It didn’t seem to address class disparities, contrary to what another reviewer claimed, because her social standing appeared irrelevant; any sense of division she experienced seemed self-imposed. Her worries about her parents, school, and wealthier classmates ultimately proved insignificant, and attaining her desired outcome brought no greater happiness. Instead, she faced resentment from those she’d left behind, leading to a yearning for the life she had previously rejected. Perhaps what the movie was conveying was that affluent individuals are not as closed off as some believe; they have their own struggles and desires, much like anyone else. Just as the main character rebelled against her circumstances seeking acceptance, so too did the children of privilege—they were also simply searching for a place to belong. The pursuit of dreams through any means doesn’t guarantee fulfillment, because life on the other side isn't inherently better; you just end up causing harm along the way and overlooking what you already possessed. I suppose there was some meaning behind it after all. ★★½ - Not dull, nor was it very entertaining.
