I anticipate some backlash, particularly considering my online handle and how many people enjoyed this movie, but I simply couldn’t get into it; it felt like an unwatchable, almost showy, meandering drama—a genre I usually appreciate, actually (as Lost in Translation, which included a short clip from this film, demonstrates). The central figure was deeply unpleasant. To make matters worse, the runtime is approaching three hours. It took about half an hour for me to understand Fellini’s intentions, and then I had to endure more than two hours beyond that. Honestly, I really disliked it; the only redeeming qualities were the cinematography and the beautiful settings, but this is one film I won't be watching again. **1.5/5**
