It's honestly pretty lightweight from a cinematic perspective. It reminded me of those fast-paced comedies we used to see, and it has some clever moments and humor. I wouldn't describe it as exceptional, but it was enjoyable enough that when I found a DVD copy at a secondhand store, I decided to get it—I probably wouldn’t have purchased it brand new. Steve Martin is credited with the writing, so you encounter those quirky jokes he’s known for, like his character telling a girlfriend named Sandy – who he refers to as a blonde “Bimbo” - that her name seems ordinary and not at all like something a hippie would choose, then she spells it out: S-A-N-D-Y. It isn't highbrow humor, but it’s inoffensive and entertaining. The group of actors playing the various roles blended well together, creating laughs and keeping me interested in their stories. I wasn’t thrilled with the scene involving hotel room hopping around the middle point, but you can't change those things. Overall, it was a nice film to watch. It would be perfect for when we can gather friends again without worrying about having to explain what's going on, because it’s easy to follow. The little bit of fantasy with the freeway signs was also charming. I suggest checking it out.
