I have to say, I didn't really connect with the initial “Kung Fu Panda.” It wasn’t bad, but it was simply passable. The gags centered on his size and awkwardness wore thin pretty quickly; they even felt like they skirted close to making fun of kids’ weight. “Kung Fu Panda 2” feels a lot like repeating what's already been done. You see the same characters, follow a familiar storyline, and hear the same jokes. There are absolutely no unexpected turns, which means the people involved don’t get much opportunity to develop as individuals. What we have is basically a standard family movie—a formulaic production. If you're content with that kind of thing, great. It’s not harmful entertainment, but if you want something more meaningful or a way to stimulate your children's minds, I suggest finding another option. Ultimately, it just sort of exists; almost humorously peaceful, in its own way.
