I’m clearly not the intended audience – I’m roughly forty-five years older than them – but I didn’t dislike it once it found its footing! The story revolves around the "Huntrix," a group of energetic young women who have fans that are unaware of their secret lives. During the day, they're pop stars with countless devoted followers; at night, they battle demons. Growing weary of their achievements in both worlds, the demonic forces decide to retaliate by creating an exceptionally polished boy band that could even impress Simon Cowell. The "Saja Boys" are attractive, tousled-haired, and incredibly thin representations of the ideal young man, quickly dominating social media. However, they have a more dangerous purpose, and their leader, “Jinu,” focuses his attention on “Rumi” – a woman harboring a significant secret – as a means to dismantle and defeat the "Huntrix." As he concentrates on her, we learn that he also has his own problems; you could even call them demonic. He even has his own sorrowful song, so is there any possibility she might ultimately redeem him? The animation style, which feels almost like dolls, didn’t appeal to me; their large eyes and artificial smiles felt disconnected, and the entire production seemed strikingly impersonal. Frankly, it lacks any genuine feeling. Nevertheless, the narrative does manage to combine suspense, romance, and drama in a fairly effective way, and the standout tracks "Golden" and "What It Sounds Like" are far superior to more forgettable songs like the truly terrible “Soda Pop” and numerous other power ballads that even the creators will likely struggle to recall. Given its potential for continuation, expect further installments, but they absolutely must address the artificial aesthetic of the artwork.
