It’s hard to imagine that ten years ago seeing these two actors together in a movie would have seemed like a joke. A significant reason for this change is the improved connection between them, especially considering Dhanush's increased popularity. I am referring to the pairing of Dhanush and Trisha. They performed well in this film, and part of what made their collaboration work so effectively was the type of characters they portrayed—it wasn’t a typical romance but rather a story centered on politics and pursuing objectives regardless of the consequences. The narrative follows twin brothers who grew up within a family deeply involved in politics. After their father died while fighting for his beliefs, one brother became interested in following in his footsteps from a young age. The film explores his ambitions and a secret relationship with someone from an opposing political group. Meanwhile, his other brother lives a more carefree life until events disrupt his peace. The story takes on elements of suspense as it moves toward its ending. The actors’ performances made the movie worth watching. The direction was unremarkable, and the writing wasn't strong; there were so many familiar tropes borrowed from older Tamil films. While some parts conveyed worthwhile messages, they were often undermined by commercial aspects like unnecessary one-liners, implausible action sequences, and slow-motion shots—things that feel out of place in contemporary cinema. As is typical, the songs were a major disappointment. If you're Indian and Tamil, you might find enjoyment in it because of your understanding of the film’s themes and the culture depicted. For someone unfamiliar with these elements, roughly eighty percent of the movie will likely be confusing. Even for those familiar with the context, I would suggest approaching this one cautiously; it isn't essential viewing. _6/10_
