What if there's something more than random events? A professor who’s lost his faith (Nicolas Cage) finds a paper that has accurately foreseen disasters for half a century, and also reveals future ones (!). Rose Byrne portrays the child of the person who made those predictions. “Knowing” (2009) is a well-made drama/mystery with touches of disaster/science fiction and even some horror elements. It shares similarities with films that inspire awe, such as “The Mothman Prophecies” (2002), “Contact” (1997), “The Forgotten” (2004), “The X-Files: Fight the Future” (1998), “Signs” (2002), “The Day the Earth Stood Still” (2008) and “War of the Worlds” (2005). Those who appreciate those kinds of movies will likely enjoy this one.
