Eli Roth takes on directing duties alongside co-writers Nicolás López and Guillermo Amoedo. The cast includes Keanu Reeves, Lorenza Izzo, and Ana de Armas, with a musical score by Manuel Riveiro and cinematography from Antonio Quercia. Reeves portrays Evan, a married man and father of two, who finds himself alone at home when two young women appear, drenched and claiming to be lost. He invites them in out of kindness, but the situation rapidly deteriorates. One can’t help but imagine Eli Roth watching audience responses to his film and finding amusement in it; it consistently lands as a pretty unremarkable movie, though it does provoke some kind of response from viewers, something he seems to enjoy being aware of. The picture is actually a reimagining of Peter S. Traynor's 1977 film, Death Game, featuring Sondra Locke and Colleen Camp, both of whom are credited on this version. There were moments where the movie felt like a glimpse into Roth’s fantasies or perhaps one of his twisted jokes. However, as the actors try to bring some seriousness to their performances (the female characters end up being more irritating than scary), and Roth prioritizes psychological elements over graphic violence, there's a subtle suggestion of a moral story present. There are also references to film noir, both in terms of the narrative and the visuals. It’s not enough to redeem the movie, but it’s an intriguing detail alongside all the craziness happening inside the house. 5/10
