Kneecap manages to be enjoyable. It’s remarkable how strong the performances are, especially considering the musical group members are acting for the first time as versions of themselves. Michael Fassbender brings some recognition to the project, but I wish there had been more of Lalor Roddy—he was excellent in 'That They May Face the Rising Sun'. Other things that work well include the cinematography and the soundtrack; I wasn’t familiar with Kneecap before, but their music is incorporated effectively. The movie also has some funny moments, which I think are its best feature. However, I didn’t really find the plot compelling—and it relies on a lot of unlikely coincidences, as all the characters seem to have an overly direct link to one another. At times, the main characters come across as awkward, although the humor mostly compensates for that. Still, I would suggest checking it out. It has enough going for it.
