This ninth collaboration between them, concluding a 12-year period, 'Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects' feels reminiscent of a Death Wish movie. Charles Bronson takes on the role of Lieutenant Crowe—a character fueled by rage concerning child prostitution and the fact that his own daughter was assaulted by a Japanese businessman. It’s easy to dismiss this as pure exploitation, but I appreciate how it mirrors 'Gentleman's Agreement' in demonstrating that prejudice can exist within anyone, yet it isn’t insurmountable. The film highlights the capacity for change when one recognizes shared humanity—seeing a Japanese father's concern for his daughter parallels his own feelings for his child. The resolution, where the perpetrator receives just punishment, is deeply gratifying and contributes to why so many of Bronson’s movies are such enjoyable indulgences.
