This Kong film is the weakest entry so far, largely because it attempts to pack in too many elements. The ambition for grandeur results in a slow pace; it really drags. As I watched, I realized about ninety minutes could have been removed without harming the story—it just isn't needed for this kind of movie. There’s character development present, but an excessive amount of it. Similarly, there's plot, but far more than is necessary. If they had edited the film to improve its rhythm and pacing, it might have been enjoyable. Instead, it feels overlong, with not enough happening to make it a thrilling monster movie. Ultimately, the experience felt tedious.
