A massive ape living alone on an island is transported to New York City, leading to widespread destruction. I’d been aware of this movie for years and had seen bits and pieces, but never taken the time to watch it fully. It was remarkable; not only did it surpass what I thought it would be, but it's genuinely shocking. There are scenes of Kong devouring people, bodies flying down into chasms, and brutal monster battles—they certainly didn’t hold back anything, and I imagine audiences at the time must have been quite disturbed by it all. The attitudes about relationships were amusing given when it was made, but not surprising. It's a truly excellent film! -- DrNostromo.com
