The film earns a score of 54 out of 100. It tells the story of a journalist who is also an estranged husband and father, and who starts exchanging messages with a serial killer, eventually participating in killings himself. The filmmakers created something that felt both brutal and tedious simultaneously. A shorter running time would have benefited this movie, which clocked in at 137 minutes; it lingered too long on the emotional struggles of the characters – who weren't particularly engaging to begin with – and attempted to provide a philosophical explanation for all the events unfolding onscreen, something that ultimately failed to resonate with me.
