A high school reunion, thrown off course by the appearance of a warthog creature... that's essentially all you need to understand about “Killer High” (2018). It’s a movie made for television, blending horror and comedy, with moments that genuinely elicit laughter alongside some unusual camera work, including certain perspectives and frozen frames. The warthog monster has a connection to the school mascot; it's dangerous but also appears somewhat silly in appearance. There's plenty of graphic violence if you enjoy that sort of thing. The actors represent a variety of backgrounds and are generally appealing, with Kacey Rohl as the entertaining central figure who arranged the reunion. Varun Saranga and Asha Bromfield play her close friends. Among the female performers, Niamh Wilson (as Michelle) is particularly memorable, though she disappears fairly early on, around ten minutes into the film. Lauren Collins’s portrayal of Carrie is solid, but the filmmakers don't explore the character fully. Humberly González (Rosario) has a strong presence, although she could benefit from gaining some weight. The movie lasts approximately 90 minutes and was filmed entirely within and near a brick high school (I haven't been able to discover where it was located). The beginning brought back memories of my younger days sneaking into our own high school just for fun. GRADE: C+ (5.5/10)
