The feeling was one of stifling heat, and I initially assumed filming took place in Italy. That impression changed when a dead kangaroo appeared, revealing it to be an Australian production. Seeing Simon Pegg in an Australian film, especially directed by the filmmaker known for 'Red Dog,' created a complicated reaction for me. It’s a comedy-thriller, something easy and entertaining to watch. The editing and visual presentation really helped elevate the movie. If the story had been presented straightforwardly from beginning to end, it would have felt quite unremarkable. With only about eight actors, it's clearly a film with a small cast set in an isolated place. It revolves around love, infidelity, crime, and money—all exploring the darker aspects of human desire. There are a few surprises, arising mainly from the unusual way the story is structured. Initially, three separate narratives unfold sequentially, all occurring at the same time: one introduces a hitman, another follows a woman who’s unfaithful to her husband, and the third focuses on a dentist couple being pressured by a loan shark. There isn't anyone to root for; each character has their own problems they're trying to escape. The story really kicks off when they commit to plans that don't quite work out as intended. As errors accumulate and characters’ circumstances intertwine, it builds toward the conclusion. It does have some small inconsistencies in the plot, but if you aren’t judging it against Hollywood blockbusters, you might find it enjoyable. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re expecting something on par with a Tarantino film. It's a darkly comedic offering from Australia that has its own merits, even though there are echoes of other movies. 6/10
