Films geared toward younger audiences frequently prioritize commercial appeal and humor, though this particular movie often fails to elicit much laughter. It’s a coming-of-age story centered on two friends, rooted in actual events, that ultimately feels somewhat underwhelming despite being presented effectively. An actor previously featured in 'Project X,' which I enjoyed, delivers an outstanding performance. He's demonstrating range and could become a significant asset to Hollywood soon. His presence evokes a combination of Seth Rogen and Jonah Hill. The narrative follows two students who left school and launch a business importing and exporting marijuana—a legal enterprise just over the border from where they live. They devise a plan, successfully put it into action, and then things unfold as you watch them. It's one of the more compelling portrayals of the downsides of social programs I’ve seen, making for an enjoyable viewing experience but not something to take seriously.
