This movie is a real treat! Kick-Ass really delivers as a superhero film; it’s wonderful because it doesn’t get bogged down in being overly serious, and that’s honestly high praise. It’s just plain enjoyable to watch. Beyond the fun factor, there are some truly impressive action scenes, and even though the costumes are goofy, they work well. Aaron Johnson is excellent as the lead; this feels like his strongest performance so far, on par with his funny turn in 2022's *Bullet Train*. Chloë Grace Moretz shines just as brightly. She really embodies the character of Hit-Girl—it’s almost like the film should have centered around her—and manages to nail both the comedic and action aspects perfectly. Nicolas Cage is also entertaining, which makes perfect sense given how well-suited he is to the part. The initial scene with him and Moretz is a highlight. Every actor involved does good work, but Mark Strong particularly stands out; he’s a familiar and welcome presence in director Matthew Vaughn's films, like so many others. I am just hoping that the next installment lived up to this one.
