This feels less like a review and more like an outpouring of frustration regarding how badly they mishandled a sequel to something I genuinely loved. *Kick-Ass* was fantastic – fresh, original, and surprisingly funny despite all the graphic violence. The second film, though? It’s just awful. Let me list what went wrong with *Kick-Ass 2*: First off, the violence is different. While the first movie had brutal moments that were also hilarious thanks to a foul-mouthed kid, this one feels like some kind of disturbing snuff film where innocent people are slaughtered without any real reason. Then there’s who they're targeting. In the original, it was straightforward: bad guys get what's coming to them. This time around, you end up watching good characters die, and it isn't funny at all. I have to warn you about Dave's dad getting murdered – completely out of nowhere. The villains are another problem. They’re just unbelievably stupid. A lot of the violence is carried out by this character called Mother Russia; everything about her is repulsive, especially how she kills people. She works for the main villain, who has also undergone a disturbing transformation. Remember Red Mist from the first film? He was amusing back then, but those days are gone. After killing his own mother (!), he rebrands himself as The Motherf***er and gathers a group of equally terrible people to hunt down Kick-Ass and his allies. Their opening move is to kill off one of the best new characters. And what about Jim Carrey’s screen time? He's only in for 7 minutes and 45 seconds, playing Colonel Stars and Stripes, who is easily the most interesting addition to the cast. The sad part is that he's barely recognizable – a low, brooding voice, no funny faces. You wait around hoping to see him, and then ten minutes later, he’s impaled and decapitated by Mother Russia. I really need to have a serious conversation with whoever wrote this script; they need to go back to school. My free advice is: don't kill off your best character halfway through the movie. The humor has also plummeted. The first film had smart, satirical jokes that were crude but never crossed a line. This one resorts to projectile vomiting and diarrhea. Seriously, poop jokes? That’s rock bottom. Then there's Hit-Girl. She was the highlight of the first film, but in this sequel, she gets stuck in a pointless subplot about trying to become a normal cheerleader. I really disliked this storyline; I don’t care if it came from the comics, it just doesn’t work. It means that for 60% of the movie, her personality is completely gone! Even Kick-Ass himself feels off. Something went wrong with the character – either the writing was bad or Aaron Taylor-Johnson didn't quite capture the charm he had in the first film. He felt like a background extra in his own story, overshadowed by everyone else. The music is also disappointing; the soundtrack for *Kick-Ass* was fantastic and added something to every scene. Here, I can barely remember one good song. And finally, it's just offensive. A joke about rape? Are you kidding me? It’s not some casual comment; the villain actually intends to assault Night Bitch, though he can’t because of a physical issue. That’s beyond tasteless. There are a few minor good things in this mess, but they're so rare that they aren’t worth mentioning. Honestly, it seems like hiring someone unknown to replace Matthew Vaughn was a terrible decision. Don't waste your time with this film.
