It feels like a chance that wasn’t fully realized. The film's attempt at being a romantic comedy is what prevents me from liking 'Khoobsurat'. I’m not saying the movie is awful, but it just didn’t resonate with me. There’s real promise in the basic idea, particularly concerning Shekhar and Nirmala's storyline. Aamir Raza Husain and Ratna Pathak Shah are excellent in those roles; there were so many directions they could have taken things. Instead, the movie goes for broad comedy rather than exploring a potentially powerful story to create something truly substantial. However, what’s presented isn’t completely without merit. As I mentioned, it didn't quite work for me, but Sonam K Ahuja (Mili) and Fawad Khan (Vikram) do an acceptable job. There are a few pleasant moments between them, though overall the movie is pretty unremarkable. The soundtrack is fine; "Naina" stands out. I can’t really suggest seeing it, although there are certainly worse ways to spend your time. I just wish they had developed the story further, especially since some of the elements were already present for a more meaningful experience.
