Even just a glimpse of saffron can instill courage, bravery, valor, and a sense of the divine. It holds significant meaning in our existence; we strive for it, protect it, and are willing to give everything for it. *Kesari* portrays the Saragarhi battle, an extraordinary and impactful episode from Bharat's history under British rule—an event deliberately suppressed and concealed from the people of Bharat, as you might expect. The battle saw 21 Sikhs confront 10,000 Afghans at the Saragarhi fort. This intense conflict continued until sunset, during which the valiant 21 Sikhs fought fiercely to their very end, ensuring that a substantial number of Afghan-Jihadis were buried amidst the ruins in unrecognizable condition. Akshay Kumar seems to be operating on another level presently; while many actors his age are struggling with formulaic and predictable films, he consistently reinvents himself every few months, venturing into new territory and achieving success. This is arguably his finest performance yet, and it’s refreshing to see him embrace a leaner Sikh role (you can observe this in the acrobatic stunts where he attacks Jihadis wielding a noticeably saffron-colored sword). The rest of the cast delivered solid performances as well. The narrative unfolds gradually during the initial portion, incorporating typical Sikh humor and Bollywood's usual emphasis on secularism. However, it’s the second half that is dominated by intense action sequences. The cinematography is exceptional and visually striking; the music is equally effective in evoking emotion, while the background score heightens the tension during the battle scenes. There's a noticeable shift occurring within Bollywood—films are now being made with appropriate themes and celebrating genuine heroes, which is a positive development. Nationalistic audiences are embracing these kinds of films enthusiastically.
