“Kanguva” attempts to reach epic fantasy status, but ultimately doesn't succeed because of a complicated story and direction that goes too far. While Suriya deserves praise for playing two roles, the movie’s considerable running time and jarring sound mix make it feel like a chore to watch. The plot wanders aimlessly, missing the necessary focus to truly capture viewers’ attention. Even with its large-scale goals, "Kanguva" falls victim to familiar storytelling patterns and doesn't manage to provide an interesting film experience.
