This feels like just another movie centered on the military, and of course, Gerard Butler is in it again. *Kandahar* attempts to present itself as broad-minded, with a small nod towards national pride seen through various countries’ viewpoints. However, at its heart, the story revolves around rescuing an individual who carried out a serious act of terrorism within another country, and this rescue happens on behalf of the CIA. It's reasonably entertaining; there are plenty of action sequences that get the job done. Nevertheless, it's difficult to ignore the familiar promotion of American and British superiority as perfectly acceptable. To be honest, at least from my perspective, it’s far from acceptable. Ultimately, this is a pro-Western military movie. It has its moments, but that’s just what it is—nothing more can be done about it.
