Miranda July's _Kajillionaire_ is a rare kind of film. It starts out seeming like a story about con artists and people who cheat others, but it develops into an incredibly sincere depiction of feeling isolated. The movie centers on the Dyne family’s scamming activities, with Evan Rachel Wood giving a remarkable performance as Old Dolio. Robert (played by Richard Jenkins) and Theresa (Debra Winger) raised Old Dolio to engage in small-time theft. They even gave her that unusual name, Old Dolio, hoping someone who won the lottery would leave his money to someone with the same name. Their desire for a quick way to make money was more important to them than giving their daughter a normal and meaningful name. From the moment she was born, Old Dolio’s existence has involved deception, theft, and trickery.
