It's remarkable how consistently Clint Eastwood produces films; you have to admire his dedication. As someone who’s made it a point to see all of his movies—and this one is apparently his fortieth (and last?) as director—I would place this among his stronger efforts, even if he has created superior works in the past. This 2024 film is certainly noteworthy. It feels like a very traditional Eastwood production, unmistakably made by someone with experience from an earlier era rather than reflecting current trends. The filmmaking quality is high across most aspects, though it does depend on some easy solutions and isn’t flawless—certain lines of dialogue, at least some of them, don't quite land. Still, the plot grabs your attention and keeps things moving. The film runs for roughly two hours, but that wasn’t a detriment to my experience; I remained engaged throughout. The acting is superb across the board. Nicholas Hoult, whom I haven’t always been impressed by in other projects, delivers a performance worthy of recognition here. Chris Messina and Toni Collette are both enjoyable in their roles, and even those with smaller parts—like J. K. Simmons, Amy Aquino, and Cedric Yarbrough—provide solid performances. The musical score is also quite good, so credit to Mark Mancina for the soundtrack. *insert joke here about how I missed Juror #1, yet anticipating Juror #3*
