I’ve never really clicked with this series. What stood out initially was the visuals; they were stunning for their era. However, impressive imagery isn't enough to make a good movie. I decided to check out this latest installment primarily to see how visual effects technology has progressed since the first one, and it seems like there hasn’t been much advancement. The awful appearance of the bird in the very beginning, combined with its clumsy animation, immediately demonstrated that CGI is struggling to produce believable imagery. Regarding the movie itself, a truly bad screenplay and irritating characters quickly made me lose interest—around fifteen minutes in. It might be acceptable for the intended audience, but there are many superior films available that would provide better value for your money.
