“Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom” (2018) centers on Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard) and Owen (Chris Pratt), who head a group returning to Isla Nublar to rescue dinosaur species facing extinction from an erupting volcano. The intention is to move the creatures to a secure island, but things don’t go as planned. My short description pretty much covers what this fifth film in the series is about. I bring up Indiana Jones because it has a feel similar to “Raiders of the Lost Ark” (1981), more so than the other films. The reference to Dracula's castle comes from the fact that the latter portion unfolds at an impressive, gothic estate in Northern California, and there’s a scene featuring a genetically modified raptor behaving like Dracula. Bryce is gorgeous throughout and easily surpasses any of the other women who have appeared in the series. Pratt also seemed to step up his performance as a leading action hero; I wasn't that impressed with him in the earlier movie, though I didn’t find him unpleasant either. Ultimately, this entry would be my top choice, followed by the original from 1993 and “Jurassic World” (2015). The film has a running time of 2 hours and 8 minutes and was filmed in Hawaii as well as England/Scotland. GRADE: A-/B+
