It’s rare to find a movie I've seen more than twice, which indicates I really enjoy it. Recently, I rewatched it after quite some time because I stumbled upon the remastered version. I wasn't particularly interested in dinosaurs when I was younger; my focus was on DC comic book heroes and their television shows. However, I’ve come to appreciate how convincingly these creatures are portrayed in films now that I watch them as an adult. The first viewing was incredible, and Jurassic Park still strikes me as the best demonstration of special effects available at the time. The storyline itself is fairly standard, though. A man who dislikes children finds himself responsible for their safety when they’re put in danger; a disgruntled advisor engages in some corporate wrongdoing; and there's a humorous character with an understanding of chaos theory whose predictions turn out to be accurate, although it’s never clarified why he was selected to assess the theme park. Similar to the security staff in older Star Trek episodes, certain characters are destined to meet their end so that the main group can all live through the events. I'm not criticizing these elements; I simply find them to be a conventional setup for showcasing the impressive visuals of dinosaurs. The film is funny, Jeff Goldblum delivers a good performance (and I even enjoy seeing him in Apartment.com ads), and everything is executed skillfully. Nevertheless, it won’t likely appear on my all-time favorites list, and perhaps this was the final time I'll watch it.
