This film represents what I consider to be an ideal cinematic experience; while not flawless, it comes remarkably close. The musical score immediately stands out—it’s truly exceptional and contributes significantly to the movie's sense of wonder. The characters are introduced rapidly but feel fully realized, thanks to the actors' superb portrayals. Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, Laura Dern, and Richard Attenborough all deliver memorable performances, as do supporting players like Wayne Knight, Samuel L. Jackson, and especially Bob Peck in his role as Muldoon. Something that particularly impressed me during my latest viewing was how long it takes for the actual action to begin—it doesn’t really kick in until about halfway through, after which there's a constant stream of intense moments. I believe this pacing is deliberate; it allows viewers to become invested in the characters, making the subsequent action more powerful and suspenseful. Even that initial hour, largely composed of dialogue, remains captivating because the script is so well-constructed, featuring compelling discussions about humanity’s control over nature, beautiful cinematography, and humor that feels organic to the conversations and consistent with each character's personality. The comedic elements never feel out of place or forced, except when it aligns with a character like Ian Malcolm. And then there's the second half... wow, it's fantastic. I don’t view this as just an action movie; it’s more of a suspenseful thriller. It avoids excessive human-versus-dinosaur battles, explosions, or aerial sequences, and uses action sparingly. The computer-generated imagery is also used judiciously, appearing only when necessary. Both the practical effects and CGI hold up remarkably well. Spielberg created truly memorable characters, crafted incredibly tense scenes—like the Tyrannosaurus breakout and the Raptors in the kitchen—and composed some iconic shots. This was my favorite movie as a child because of the impressive dinosaurs, and it remains one of my favorites due to its exceptional characters and suspenseful atmosphere.
