The movie “Jungle” demonstrates that the wilderness isn't suitable for people anymore, not even as it was millennia ago. It’s an exceptionally well-made biopic focusing on survival in a remote environment. This Australian production centers around Yossi, a young Israeli man who embarked on a trekking expedition through the Bolivian jungle with three companions. They became lost and had to fight to stay alive. The story unfolds in 1981, just before the rainy season, as the group attempts to locate a forgotten indigenous settlement. Following their separation, the narrative follows Yossi’s experience, detailing how he confronted nature's obstacles to persevere and eventually reach civilization. The film exceeded expectations based on what was shown in the previews. Daniel Radcliffe continues to improve with each new role he takes on. Performances like this suggest that he will be accepted for larger projects and more significant parts going forward. The script and direction are both strong, though it’s adapted from a biographical book sharing the same title. Filming took place entirely in Australia, yet manages to capture an authentic South American feel. One aspect I found problematic was Yossi's background as an ex-military man; survival techniques are typically taught in army training, so his fear and struggles felt somewhat inconsistent with that experience. It’s a worthwhile film overall. 8/10
